ODUYA OPURONG AFARIKI NA RISASI KICHWANI KWA MIAKA 26. Mbunge wa zamani wa Amagoro Frederick Oduya Opurong (83) amefariki akipokea matibabu katika hospitali ya kitaifa ya Kenyatta.Hii ni baada ya kusalia na risasi kichwani kwa miaka 26 kufikia sasa. Baada ya kupigwa risasi kichwani mnamo 1993 na watu wasiojulikana akiendesha gari lake akielekea nyumbani kwake mtaani mariakani jijini Nairobi,madakitari waliamua kuacha risasi hiyo kichwani mwa Oduya Opurong kwa madai ilikua vigumu kuondoa risasi hiyo. Madakitari hata hivyo walifanikiwa kuondoa risasi moja huku risasi moja ikisalia sehemu ya ubongo baada ya kuelekea London kupata matibabu ya ziada. Jamii ya Iteso pamoja na viongozi wa kitaifa na kimataifa watamkumbuka marehemu oduya kwa kustahimili maumivu ya risasi kichwani kwa miaka 26 mbali na kukuza amani na umoja wakitaifa,kuendeleleza utamaduni na ujirani katika Kenya na Uganda na vile vile kutambua jinsi Mzee Oduya alivyochangia katika sekta ya maendeleo-endelevu. Marehemu Oduya pia aliwahi kuhudumu kama waziri msaidizi katja wizara ya uchumi wa kitaifa mbali na kufanikisha kupatikana kwa eneo bunge la Teso (Busia North District) kabla ya kugawanyika kuwa Teso Kaskazini na Kusini. Mzee Oduya aliyezaliwa mnamo 1938,alihudumu kama mbunge wa wateso kwa miaka 18 huku akiwa na watoto 33 na wabawake watano hayo yote yakichangiwa kutokana na ujasiri ,bidii na kujinyima kwake kwa sababu ya jamii ya Iteso.
